With Ash Wednesday began the second period of the liturgical year, and the time of repentance and soul searching of Life.
A period in which the keywords are so many but the most important is the conversion, it is the mind, but especially the heart, the priest in the liturgy invites us on Wednesday: "Converted and believe the gospel!"
This part just believe in the Gospel, in a sense, from this day: the imposition of ashes takes us to be reconciled with the Father and to exploit the favorable time for the day of salvation.
How perfectly reconciled to the Father? There are three weapons: alms, prayer and fasting .
try to as much as possible the contact with others, the weak and let's do it in secret; such as prayer in secret too. it is a prayer to the Lord attentive and even a simple thank you and not the usual bland recitation and disconnected from the heart that comes only from the mouth .. but that prayer comes from the heart ... In secret.
Fasting: perhaps the most difficult because it is not material but above all a fast mind and consciousness ... that leads us to true conversion. Reject the unnecessary practice and some real sacrifice in secret ...." .
We apply the three weapons in secrecy ... gratify us!
walk in this Lent will rise to meet the Lord in secret and invigorating the soul so we'll paraphrase S Augustine from sin to grace, shall suffer the Passion with Christ through worship and then feeding and nourishment of the Verum Corpum and service to others. Just as well
S Benedict suggests a more to purify the heart and less to the rhythm of daily life.
